New nonstop route between Quito and Santiago
LATAM Airlines has announced the launch of a new direct route between Quito and Santiago, marking an important milestone for air connectivity in South America. Ticket sales for the new service began on June 20, with operations scheduled to commence on December 1, 2026.
The new route will connect the capitals of Ecuador and Chile with four weekly nonstop flights, offering travelers a faster and more convenient way to move between two of the region's most dynamic destinations. Flights from Quito will depart every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at 11:00 p.m., arriving in Santiago at 5:00 a.m. the following day.
The introduction of direct flights represents a significant improvement for passengers, reducing travel times by approximately one and a half to three hours compared to existing itineraries that require connections. Beyond the convenience factor, the route is expected to strengthen tourism, business, and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
As South America continues to recover and expand its air network, new direct routes play a key role in improving regional integration. The Quito–Santiago connection will facilitate easier access for Ecuadorian travelers seeking to explore Chile's renowned wine regions, Patagonia, and vibrant urban experiences, while Chilean visitors will benefit from improved access to Ecuador's rich cultural heritage, Andean landscapes, and unique biodiversity.
